Lime Plaster 101 Workshop

May 18, 2011 by stowe farm

After the stone foundation is in and the earthen oven is built, it should have a sturdy coat of protection. Natural builder, Ryan Chivers will be teaching plaster courses at Yestermorrow. Before he heads back to Colorado, he has arranged to come to Katywil, and guide us through the process, using the natural technique of lime plastering.
Ryan Chivers has been working as a natural builder since 1998. He  has played a key  role in developing earth and lime plaster systems for natural buildings using standardized  materials, locally available on the Colorado front range. He is endlessly interested in  traditional, natural building techniques from around the world, and is passionate that those traditions continue to be passed on. Ryan is a hopeless materials geek, and formulates all of his mixes from scratch, continuuing to research and learn about chemistry and formulation of plasters and natural building systems. Ryan is co owner of artesano traditional plaster in Boulder. Register here.
