Real Social Security is knowing that your neighbors are there for your children, pets, and animals when you are away. It’s a priceless benefit of cohousing. Not to mention the rewards of the special relationships that are formed when you are on the care giving end.

I pick Cassidy up from school once a month and really look forward to my monthly installments of the joys and challenges of her eleven year old world.

Francis, our 93 year old neighbor, is an amazing woman, whose life I’d never know about if I didn’t bring her the daily mail.

Nayla and Theo, who are pictured here, are finally getting comfortable with me after two years of caring for them when Charles is away. And our KiKi actually comes out from under the bed when Charles comes over.

This is the true definition of social security.
