Katywil is named for my grandparents, Kate Cole, above with me, little Billy Cole, and Will Cole with my younger brother, Frank, in 1950. Kate and Will married in 1900, and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1950, the year this photograph was taken. They bought their farm, which they named Shadowlawn, in 1917 and lived there until they died. They raised mixed breeds of dairy cows, chickens, and hogs, and until the early 1940s farmed with horses.
