David Posluszny’s 900 sq ft w/loft net-zero home cost around $80,000 after he receives energy rebates. The cost includes the solar panels but not his many hours of labor!
About David:
David is an energy specialist at Dolphin Insulation, Inc. See his documented house on his greasybrother’s chanel. David designed and built his own home in 2012. He did 90% of the work with his own two hands. He has no conventional heating system, only a back-up electric space heater. There is no cumbustion in the house, meaning no wood, pellets, propane or oil. As long as he cooks once a day that takes care of his heating needs. His house has maintained 68 degrees and 40% relative humidity all winter long. He is consuming more electricity than producing right now, but plans on producing more in the summer to balance out for the year. His house was easy to build, and more cost effective to build this way then code minimum.
David has been in the Army National Guard for 11 years, and has served oversees twice. One year to Iraq and one year to Afghanistan. He graduated from Umass Amherst with a Building Construction Technology degree in 2010, and focused on energy in residential.
