Many hands work party!

November 6, 2021 by Stowe Farm

regenerative agriculture at Stowe Farm. Planting in the solar field.

We are growing, and what a difference more helping hands made last weekend. On a stunning November Sunday Stowe Farm Community members came together to plant over 120 new raspberry plants that needed thinning from a neighbor’s garden. With Jonathan leading the way with the rototiller, we planted them in a curve that follows the… [Read More]

Cider pressing at Stowe Farm

Thank you, Peter and Kaylee, for a beautiful day of cider pressing, delicious apple cake, and for delivering fresh apple cider to each of our doorsteps at Stowe Farm! The ducks enjoyed the day too. They were flattered that the bird dog pointed and never took her eyes off of them!

Stowe Farm pigs watch goats watch pigs

The goats and pigs do entertain each other. We move the pigs often, but on Saturday we moved them and their house way on the other side of the field. It took awhile and the goats would have done it differently, but the pigs are so happy literally digging up their new digs!

new Stowe Farm greenhouse fan

Community members recently got together to add automatic ventilation to our “Mark Ward” recycled glass greenhouse. Peter installed a louver on the west side, and Lynn and TJ installed a fan on the east side. The fan operates off a thermostat and will automatically come on when the greenhouse gets too hot. This will… [Read More]

7 Stowe Farm eggs today!

March 10, 2020 by Stowe Farm

7 beautiful Stowe Farm Community eggs today

Four households form the chicken club. Today was Lynn’s day, and she got a full assortment. One of the ladies is still holding out, but we still have enough to feed all of us each week. This is a particularly sweet group. Nobody seems to get picked on.

Connections

impromptu meal at Stowe Farm Community

*from “The Amish use tech differently than you think. We should emulate them.” by By Jeff Smith, The Washington Post, Feb. 17, 2020 It can often feel as if modern life does little to encourage healthy connections between people.  The logistics of making a living and meeting core family needs combined with dispersion of extended families… [Read More]

The aMAIZEing world of corn!

Haynes growing corn at Stowe Farm Community

I grew up in New Mexico and one of the many things I miss is the spicy, traditional food. In October in New Mexico you can smell the wonderful aroma of green chiles being roasted in the open air. And on feast days, the Navajo pueblos and in many households throughout New Mexico you will… [Read More]
