Building the Turkey Trailer

July 12, 2011 by stowe farm

High winds in a June storm blew the roof off this old travel trailer in Heath and its owner tore off the sides.  Bill and Andrew asked him if we could buy it as the base for our chicken/turkey “tractor.”  Once the cages are built, the trailer can be pulled by a tractor to various parts of Katywil and the hens can munch new grass and juicy grubs, producing fresh eggs and a fertilized field.  Eventually, we’ll build a smaller, more mobile tractor.  If you look closely, under the trailer next to Andrew is his pet goat, Ava.  In the background, you can see our community blueberry bushes and the bread oven under the orange tarp.
