Rootstock

March 2, 2019 by Stowe Farm

Haynes brought home several different apple varieties that he grafted at a
workshop. He learned how to join two twigs (a root and a branch) together in just the right way to create a tree. These trees were planted in nursery pots, to heal and eventually they will be moved outside. Who knew? This is the way virtually all new apple nursery stock are made since they can’t really be grown from seed.
