As the temperature outside is warming (thankfully!), the birds are singing their spring song and the sap is flowing from the maple trees, it is the time of year that we anxiously await kidding in the barn. On Monday evening at 10:45pm we welcomed our first kids of the season to Stowe Farm.
Our Rosie delivered 2 darling, little doelings into this world. Kidding went smoothly, Mama and kids are all thriving and Rosie is just the perfect doting mama. Since they arrived under a full moon, midwives Monique and Harley have decided on celestial names for the doelings: Phoebe and Luna.
For those of you who, like me, are not up to date on all things celestial and are wondering about the Pheobe- celestial connection, Wikipedia provides the answer:
“Origin of the name Phoebe: Feminine form of the Greek Phoibos (bright one), which is derived from phoibos (bright). Phoebe is found in Greek mythology as a name for Artemis, the goddess of the moon. In poetry, Phoebe is the moon personified.”
